About the Book
After watching the manner in which the 2008 and 2012 Presidential primaries and elections took place, two things became clear to me. One, most candidates will say whatever they think American voters want to hear in order to get elected. Secondly, the lack of follow-through on those promises to any meaningful degree indicates that our elected officials place little value or worth on the average American.
This book arose out of a deep-seeded belief that all Americans are created by God, and therefore, have immeasurable value, regardless of our race, creed, or any other demographic. However, to make a difference in our political landscape, one needs to accept some cognitive dissonance, and recognize that their biases and presumptions might be flawed. Once this is done, people can be open to having meaningful conversations with someone that might normally vote differently than them, or have a different letter on their voter registration card. When Abraham Lincoln spoke of a “government of the people, by the people, for the people”, he was referring to a united people working together for the freedom and welfare of all.
